Develop your inner hero! Program will include group games, activities and/or a take-home craft. All ages welcome.

This month, create and design your own super hero shield using melting beads!

Battle of the BooksZengo_from poster

Battle of the Books (BOB) is a summer book club competition for students who have completed 5th grade and older. Teams are made up of no more than 5 members who work together to complete a 10 title booklist.

The teams compete against each other to answer questions about the books in a local library competition(s). Your library’s winning team then competes against the winning teams from other libraries in a Battle of the Books Tournament at Horicon Public Library. There is a traveling BOB plaque for the final winning team!

Tournament Date: Wednesday, July 29 at 2:00 pm

Which superpowers are real? Which Superpowers are fiction? Science will help you decide! Create Spider “silk”, hovering drones, balloon rockets, flying force fields, and levitating & floating disks!

Join us for this program presented by the Welty Environmental Center. We can all help the web of life! Take part in an interactive reading of The Lorax by Dr. Suess, check out cool displays about how nature works, feel some real nature artifacts, and even make a craft to take home as a reminder that we all speak for the trees!

Date: Tuesday, August 4

Time: 1:30 pm

Vampires, aliens and more! This back-to-back blockbuster includes short plays featuring Wisconsin animals. Join Detective Appletree in exploring Wisconsin’s forests and waters in “The Strange Case of the Alien Invasion.” During “intermission,” audiences learn about choosing an appropriate pet in the game show “The Bachelor-pette.” Then for the finale, join Jonathan Batfield in “The Legend of Hibernacula,” a musical about the benefits of bats. Concepts presented include Wisconsin habitats, invasive species, adaptations and actions children can take to protect Wisconsin’s wildlife. Presented by Kohl’s Wild Theater. Most appropriate for grades 1-5 and families with children of all ages.

Ryan Schwartz of Company K, Second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association, Inc. will give a presentation on the American Civil War, artifacts, weapons, and uniforms that will be family-oriented and interactive.

Presented by Horicon Marsh Education, this program packs a POW! Learn all about the powerful, daring, magnificent & mighty superheroes that call Horicon Marsh home! But wait! SLAM! Lurking around every corner is a villain…and we will do our best to prepare you for battle! This interactive program will introduce you to our marsh superheroes, and its evil villains. BAM! Come early and make your own superhero gear.

East vs. West vs. Sullivancompetition

The school with the highest percentage of students who complete the Summer Reading Program will win the 2015 Super Readers Trophy and an ice cream party!

Ms. Melissa will present the trophy to the winning school this Fall and then celebrate with the students who completed the program with an ice cream party!

A new group for parents and caregivers for children birth to age 5. Our theme is “Connect, Explore, Play”.
This group gives families of Jefferson County a place to meet other families, make new friends, and, of course, learn about the great things we do here at the library.

Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Club Meet-ups

The Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Club will meet on a Saturday, rotating between the Jefferson Public Library and the Fort Atkinson Library.  The first Saturday of the month will be at Fort and the second Saturday will be here at Jefferson.  Sponsored by Chaos Comics in Fort Atkinson!

Time:  10 am – 1 pm
